Britain's number one outdoor attraction, Blackpool Pleasure Beach regularly attracts over seven million visitors per annum and covers a vast area of around 40 acres / 6 hectares. There are around 70 fast rides at the Pleasure Beach, including more than a dozen roller coasters, a number of which have broken world records over the years. You can easily spend several days here and still not get to see everything. Many people come for a ride on the historic Big Dipper wooden roller coaster, which dates back to 1923, although newer, faster and more stomach-churning rides are opening here every year. Other attractions at the Pleasure Beach include log flumes and boat rides, cabarets of magic and illusions at the Horsehoe venue, circus gymnastics at the Globe, and ice dancing performed by world champions at the Arena. There are also plenty of restaurants and fast-food outlets all around the park.

A major attraction along Blackpool's Central Promenade, the Sea Life Centre regularly attracts in excess of six million visitors each year, which gives a clear impression of its popularity. Home to a major collection of marine life, the Sea Life Centre boasts a Crystal Tunnel, complete with sharks swimming overhead, some of which are more than 2.5 metres / 8 feet long. With around 50 different displays in total, you will also be able to see stingrays, seahorses, jellyfish, piranhas and many more fishy attractions, including a cafe, soft play area and gift shop selling aquatic souvenirs.

Without doubt the region's top indoor water park, the award-winning Sandcastle Waterworld can be found alongside the South Beach and features a host a fast water slides, fun pools and waves at the Typhoon Lagoon. There are most attractions here, appealing to a wide range of age groups, such as a sauna area, amusement arcade, play areas and 'shimmerin shallows' for children, a cafe serving light refreshments, and a swim shop. Amongst the most popular slides is the 'Masterblaster', a water roller coaster which is around 250 metres / 820 feet in length and the longest of its kind in the whole world.

Located along East Park Drive and to one side of Stanley Park, Blackpool Zoo and Dinosaur Safari is always busy and full of interest. The top attractions at the zoo include a renovated free-flight aviary, gorilla mountain, lemur wood, elephants, a reptile house, a miniature railway, a children's petting zoo and also a 'Run Wild' play zone. With more than 1,500 exotic animals and plenty of fun for all the family, be sure not to miss the Dinosaur Safari, where you are able to get close-up to 30 life-size models of dinosaurs in an atmospheric setting.
